dinner time

This isn't near as funny without hearing the tone in McKenna's voice, but I just had to share:

McKenna always sits next to Duke at the dinner table, but the other night she announced that she was going to sit in a different chair.

Duke: "You don't want to sit by me?"
McKenna: "No."
Duke: "Why not?"
McKenna: "I don't know. (long pause, then VERY matter-of-factly) I guess I just don't want to sit by you."

words i'm not supposed to say

McKenna: "Mom, I'm not supposed to say 'shoot'"
Me: "You can say 'shoot'. It's the other word you can't say.
McKenna: "Oh. I can't say 'shit'"
Me: "That's right, McKenna. Don't say that word."
Pause
McKenna: "Mom, I'm not supposed to say 'shit'"
Me: "That's right, DON'T say that word."
McKenna: "Mom, Im not supposed to say..."
Me: "McKenna, DON'T say that word."
McKenna: "Mom..."
Me: "DON'T say it."
McKenna: "Mom..."
Me: "DONT'T SAY IT!"
McKenna: "What?!? All I'm saying is 'Mom'"

back in commission

WOW! I can't believe nearly three months have passed since I've updated the blog. A LOT has happened since my last post. I've added several new posts dating back to September in an effort to date the post when the event actually happened. So, if you go back and view posts since September, you should be able to catch up with all that's new.

awww... the love

Rhett has recently started giving everybody hugs. He's such a love! As such, McKenna loves asking for 'big hugs' from her little brother. How long do you think that will last?



P.S. Yes, Rhett bonks his head on the table at the end of the video, but rest assured... he's fine.

our new home

Two weeks before Christmas, after what seemed like an eternity, we finally moved into our new home. We've slowly been getting settled in the midst of holiday chaos and want to share some pictures as I know the house will never look this way again. :)

Gosh I have a lot of updates to make... maybe this weekend. For now, here's a funny McKenna story.

Duke and McKenna were drawing together last night. She asked him to draw a girl... holding balloons. He did. "Draw a dog with her," she asked. So he did. "Not a turtle, Daddy. A dog!"
